Crouch End is a trendy village-like area full of boutiques, interesting shops, beauty parlours, hairdressers, cafes, pubs and restaurants. See comedy and movies locally. Very cool area to hang out in. Great hills for running if that's your poison and there's a local 50m outdoor pool if you're a swimmer.
Lovely walks nearby, close to Highgate woods, Hampstead Heath, Kenwood House for outdoor summer concerts and Alexandra Palace for lots of different events. Close to Islington with its Georgian townhouses and beautiful squares. London has great local areas and exploring these can really complement a visit here.

The entire flat sleeps four, two double bedrooms one of which opens straight onto the garden. Please note that if you are taking the entire flat, the price will be based on four people sharing.

Crouch End and environs
Crouch end is a great area. Many of its population come from the creative industries; television, music, film, theatre and publishing who are drawn to the area for its laid back atmosphere and cafe society. The nicest thing about the area is that there are mainly independent shops rather than chains. Shopkeepers know the locals by name and it gives the area a more eclectic vibe. It's popular with young people and with families so it has something for everyone.
You will never go hungry in Crouch End! There are so many good cafes and restaurants, all very reasonably priced. Whatever kind of food you like, you will find it within a mile of the flat. But mostly just a five minute walk. I can recommend places based on your tastes so please ask.
There are also four supermarkets and dozens of small food shops open til late, an organic shop, butchers, fishmongers and wonderful bakeries.
If, like me , you love to shop, there are excellent boutiques to choose from. These range from cheap outlets to designer. Mainly for women but there are also two men's boutiques.
There is a local indoor and outdoor pool, open to the public, which is packed in the summer and great fun on a hot day.
From Hornsey rail station. Walk left from station up the hill. At the crest you will see the police station on the right, cross over and Harold Road is just to the right. This is an overground train just a few minutes from the house that goes to the city and also connects withe tube to take you to the west end or further
Its a five minute bus ride To/from Finsbury Park (W3 bus) to round the corner from the flat. Finsbury Park houses the Victoria and Piccadilly lines which will get you to Central London in 20 minutes. Overground train to the city in 10 minutes and loads of busses.
No 91 bus goes to Trafalgar square via Euston and Kings Cross two minutes from the flat.
No 41 bus takes a local route to Archway.
Other interesting places locally:
Highgate village is lovely with properties dating back to the 1600's. Karl Marks is buried in Highgate cemetery and there is also the very pretty Waterlow Park. The small High Street has some nice shops and restaurants.
Islington is a funky, stylish area selling contemporary furniture, expensive clothes and yet more restaurants. You'll see distinguished Squares of Georgian houses with private gardens. There's an art deco cinema called Screen on the Green where you can watch Indie films on comfortable sofas and armchairs while drinking wine. Who needs a multiplex!
Muswell Hill, not far away, also has an old cinema.
Alexandra Palace is very close by. Events, concerts and circuses are held here and there is also an ice skating rink. Wonderful views over London.
The East End has really come up in the world and has some of London's most interesting places to go; particularly clubs and pubs for 20-35's.
Brick Lane thriving market has great Indian restaurants and a young Bhangra vibe.
On sundays, go to Spitalfields market, a covered market with stall holders galore selling interesting items but my favourite is Columbia Road flower market where traders shout out their prices, musicians play and shops sell quirky goods. Great coffee here too.
ReglementenSo that you can enjoy the apartment (and I can sleep at night) there are a few things you should know.
Most importantly, this is my home and you are welcome. Please treat it with respect. If you have any problems, then do let me know and I will do my very best to sort it out quickly. Please be tidy and clear up after yourselves.
Please be mindful and considerate of the neighbours. I have good relationships with them and would not wish to upset them. No loud noise after 11pm and absolutely no additional visitors.
Security and safety - non negotiables
The front door to the house and the door to the flat have two locks each. It is vital you double lock both doors every time to arrive and leave. It is a safe area but as in any city, you need to follow basic security. You will be provided with one set of keys. Please do not give them to anyone else.
The back door has keys and deadlocks and should be locked when you leave the house.
STRICTLY No smoking in the building. You may smoke at the back of the garden only.
What I provide
Duvets, clean bedding and towels on arrival.
Tea, coffee, sugar and milk. I have two Italian stove top espresso makers.
Central heating (on a timer morning and evening).

Beoordelingen van deze accommodatie
We really enjoyed staying in Rita's apartment. Rita was very friendly and helpful and we did feel at home. The apartment is lovely and we also enjoyed sitting in the garden. The location was very convenient for us and all helped toward a very happy weekend
Many thanks to Rita for such a welcoming and flexible attitude to us. We as a group of men, were delighted to be able to sleep at the flat and have somewhere homely to return to after our all day meetings. The place is certainly handy to get into central London (even if we didn't do so) and to the various airports, notably Stansted. We have no quibbles! Show respect and you get it back! I as treasurer, was delighted to have got this place after searching the various hotels. I wanted flexibility knowing that we would not really be eating in the flat, but the opportunity to do is certainly there. Big thanks to Rita.
